Denver In Perspective: The ‘Watch’ is On!

The countdown has begun. In a few days Senator Barak Obama, will officially become the Democratic nominee for president. Besides, after a long vetting process supporters will learn who emerges as Vice president. As cliché goes—this is it! In other words– The Obama Watch is on! What else is to be revealed? His announcement on a vice president. Will it be: Tim Kayne (D-Virginia), Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) or Joe Biden (D- Delaware)? What happens after this ? A seamless transition to a powerful, winning campaign – one without glitches. He will be expected to walk on water, literally. Can he? Or will he be able to? I am waiting for the candidates to surprise all of us. But Obama goes in as the under-dog ( a celebrity dog-horse) all eyes will be focused in his direction.

But beyond all this, the most critical element of his strategy/tactics (choice of VP) begins in less that forty-eight (48 ) hours, given the buzz intensifies that it will be Joe Biden. Still to early to tell. Well share the ‘anxiety’ together. By August 25, all this will be history. Nevertheless that official announcement will again remind voters if he truly is the candidate of “Change.”

Of course, the media cycle on this presidential election is has predictable as others in past. One poll shows a candidate leading…. Then he slips… the other candidate bounces back with a wider margin. What is expected in these crucial last days—the polls will surely tighten. For now, three National polls show: (NPR) Obama at 46-percentage points, Senator John McCain—41 percent , (Quinnipiac) Obama at 47 percent, McCain 42, and Zogby — John McCain at 46 percent, Obama 41. Between the contenders there is roughly a five (5) percent spread.

With this flux on Obama’s numbers—many are bold enough to say Obama’s lead is ‘evaporating.’ But irrespective of how these numbers are interpreted, clearly they prove Republicans are ‘coming home, so of course, McCain’s support looks stronger, and that too, was expected. In general, as many predict “this will be an open and fluid election.”

And the referendum is clearly on Barak— his winning will be an historical moment in American history. Will his “mantra’ as an agent of Change allow him to forge ahead? Simultaneously it will be a defining moment for the Arizona senator who at 72 years, will be oldest candidate ever to enter the contest for president. Despite that—all eyes will be on Senator Obama. He remains in the ‘Bulls Eye’ of whatever comes down the pike. But Obama has run a tremendous campaign so far. So does he have reasons to be worried? I say No. A key finding of the NPR poll—the ‘maverick brand’ is dissipating. But that too, can change. In the world of politicsthere is nothing permanent.

So as both candidates are ‘transfigured’ before us, one thing is sure—one heads to the White House, the other to political doomsday. So the politics of slash and burn will increase. It will also be apparent– the one who becomes the General in his own war—wins. Therefore, for Senator Obama the ‘ticking’ of a clock has begun! Will time be a friend? ‘Cause the ‘Watch’ is On!

Obama/Biden ticket– an absolutely smart well thought out selection. Denver should be interesting in the coming days.

Biden has the years in the Senate- on the Foreign Relations Committee, to knock the sock off McCain.

Ready to be introduced to McCain’s choice– will it speak to the new/old McCain? The maverick has flipped so many times… can’t even guess!

Nevertheless, time to open the doors to the Coluseum’ and let the games BEGIN!!

I do agree that the watch is on. If Senator Obama chooses the right person however and he continues to show the American people that their destiny rests with them. then, the Senator can go no where but up in the polls. How many ordinary people today are having a better lot ? except if they are day dreaming or in fantasy land. The reality is stark. Jobs are scearce and everything costs more plus wages are flat.It is full time the American people become more savvy and realize that they have to vote their interest. WIhes are not going to do it.They have to wish and back it up with strong decisive action.
I can only hope that the Democratic party are making sure that all the machines will be working like they ought to, and that poll watchers will be there to report any irregularities.I expect victory for the democrats and nothing else.

Just realized that the VP has been chosen. What a choice? Personally, I have admired Senator Biden for a long time and I know he will be a great VP and lead the country along with the President to better days ahead.
As a voter I am very excited. can’t wait to vote.

The convention gets underway in two days.

With the Democratic team in place, the campaign will now incorporate a needed blast of ‘Rovian’ tactics– Yes, Biden will serve as a PROSECUTOR uniquely qualified to go after McCain. I think this was a smart decision by Obama now that I think of it. This is not a job for a ‘new kid’ on the block. This qualifies for a seasoned politician.

McCain has already started his blast with Biden quotes. Others mention gaffes…So? This slugfest will be a Trilla…. and all bets are off. Canno wait to see who John picks… whomever– the political ‘dog war’ has begun!!

    Right on Barack!!

Time could be a friend To Barak. But will Hillary be?

The two term Senator actually thinks that two minorities (a black and woman) on any ticket is winnable. Hillary wake up! That would be a horrible ticket.

Biden is questionable, but the man has 30 years in the Senate. What is hidden in the White House, that Hillary wants to get there again?

Democrats– what a party of jokers. Let the tensions build — and watch your disintegration.

The Me, me, will accomplish that well.

Denver is high on energy. Biden was bold with his attacks on ‘red meat’… but will they all be able to counter the GOP ambush?

Looking good and energized, great. Lets see that interpreted in real political capital comes November. Possible Barak?

  • Cherry

Its Bam and Joe, The road show is on. I await the dramatic finish, but only if the GOP really has a strategy to fight.

Will they be allowed to copy everything? Geez, John, any creativity anywhere?

  • Indiana

Denver, Denver, on my mind– this Convention night was a great night in American history. Will remain indelible in my memory. Profound!

Its OhooohBamaaa all the way! Where can we find little John?

Literally, I am without words.. but I look to see this topped in Minnesota. Can they? No, I wait to see their miracle, nevertheless.
