More than a week ago, Tea Party faithfulls under the leadership of Glen Beck of the Fox News Channel rallied in Washington to show they were ready to turn things around– move America back to right and in the process take ‘their’ country back. Yep! Politics and politrics are at play, but should you/anyone forget both liberals and progressives also have a say in that same country and –nation. Consequently, under the banner of ONE NATION– WORKING TOGETHER, progressives and liberals moved to say to conservatives their troops are also preparing for victory. They believe they can beat back the conservatives at the polls uniting on common goals.
Consequently, a deli-CIOUS election is ahead, and appetizers on the menu are plenty. But creating Jobs– most often talked about and may prove to be the death of Democrats and the nail that moves a John Boehner, Minority Speaker of House to that new position he seeks– Speaker. A Big No to such an idea comes from many who have a say, VOTERS –about the politics of this season. And what indeed, will they settle for?
Therefore, Saturday, October 2, saw much activity on part of several organizations wowing their audience to hold on the theme “Yes We Can”. Both parties seem to believe the wind is blowing in their direction but until the final votes are counted on November 2… less than a month ago, its again an uphill battle for Democrats who must excite their base and give President Obama another chance half way into his first term to prove he’s the man to answer the pleadings of the middle class for more jobs and an opportunity to experience the American Dream.
So will Obama on the campaign trail with Democrats be able to help those up for re-election hold on the majority in the House and Senate? That’s to be seen. The biggest bunder of the Democrats that could bury their hopes for another chance– months squandered reaching out to Republicans who had no interest in working across the isle. Now the Obama review is based not only what he has accomplished, but also on what is still to be addressed in a meaningful way for America’s poor and middle class. On every possible list.. taking first place its: Jobs and more jobs.
So was this display of activity in Washington over the weekend be enough to inspire and fire up the base to go out and vote?
Or in a state of apathy– will they stay home, and hand victory on a platter to conservatives in an attempt to prove anger trumps common sense? Only time will tell. Until then what is sure is that a class warfare is on. The rich versus the poor/middle class. They are all moving to change minds among their ranks. Solutions are sought again on: jobs, tax cuts for the rich, healthcare reform the war in Afghanistan and deficit spending, among so much more. For me the answer is clear– despite my own concerns that the answer lies with the Democrats. Cutting or slashing Medicare for the sick, old and needy is not an answer to decrease deficit spending or provide jobs to many to need one. Progressives and moderates –must fight back. And well thinking Conservatives with a brain and who think “future’ must also join the fight to America strong at all levels– and among all groups.
That said, I say let the games begin!! And its your turn to chime in!!
