Today we are talking debt ceiling agreement. But which group was better able to deliver for its group? Democrats or House Republicans? For now I repeat the cliche ‘the devil’ is in the details.
Many already believe “The Big Three” is on the chopping Block”. I hope not ! I believe in meaningful reform. Should the retirement age be raised to 68/70yrs. Not sure! But people are living longer. Some more active. But irrespective on what’s decided on, the poor/middle class shouldn’t have to give up more so that the rich can pay less in taxes. Equal sacrifice is what it should be.
So did the president surrender to the Republicans in this deal making? Hearing that Speaker Boehner was a great winner and that Obama surrendered, again. Really!
Did the president surrender, throwing is base under the bus? I’m still trying to evaluate/decide on details. Republicans to their detriment are not talking jobs. Neither is President Obama given this ‘manufactured crisis. Tea and “nuts’ now control the halls of Congress, but still hoping in the end Mr. Obama would have done the right thing by his base. Short of that, the grumbling/rumblings of dissatisfaction gets louder.
Of course, voters are not without blame. Last November, many ignored the warnings and didn’t go out to vote. So the Tea party stormed into the House and drinking bitter TEA is the result. But Democrats still have the Senate and Presidency and I hope to see Obama use his clout to give his base the upper hand sometimes.
These days hard to tell. But Barack Obama knows what is at stake. Still believe he has a plan as the 2012 elections take center state. What do you think?
Still examining the whole deal. Want to hear your thought on the President’s performance. Is he a weak or skillful negotiator? Join the conversation! Who won this round?
