For yet another cycle, it would appear conservative/tea party voters are again looking for ‘the’ candidate; as Rick Santorum, the ultra conservative — and possibly, the only one among the group moves stridently to the forefront in recent polls.

For months he trailed Mitt Romney, the ‘known’default’ candidate but now marches forward as the “new” flavor of the month.

In short, Mitt is losing his lustre and his political chips seem to have also lost value as the primary season moves forward. For example, there was an assumption he won the Maine Caucuses, but Ron Paul who came in a close second is crying foul on the results and a recount is under way at this moment.

Should Romney lose Maine he would have lost four primaries in a row. Such losses are giving opponents much fodder to say– Romney the ‘Default’ candidate, despite having the money and organization on the ground, may not be in the long run the nominee for his party.

Clearly, Mitt is fighting hard for his political life, and at this juncture, no one seem confident looking at the political zigsaw of GOP party politics that he has the stripes of a conservative to make finish line– as in the horse to trash President Obama in the November elections. But as they see, we will see.
What’s your thoughts, however, on Rick’s moving to the top or nipping closely at the tails of Romney in recent surveys? Mitt claims to be a ‘severe’ conservative, but Santorum a neo- conservative and so much so– that his victories if I were a establishment Republican would be worrisome.

But what say you? Why should the Grand Old Party (GOP) have all the fun. Is it time you threw a Mitt to Willard Romney? Join the conversation. Verna wants to hear your points-of-view.

When many on the Right–conservatives, and on the Left, Democrats, just about accepted the fact, that Default, candidate, Mitt Romney is likely to become his party’s nominee, they experienced a shock. Yes from Rick Santorum. The Contender who won the Iowa Caucus, but since trailed Mitt Romney, way,way behind. But that changed yesterday during primaries in: Colorado, Minnesota and Missori, during which Santorum convincingly won all of them. Yes, Rick “Roar” in a victories, unexpectedly.

But for the candidate who basically represents the conservative wing of his party, much more so than: Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney or Ron Paul one wonders what’s next for Santorum?

First, he lacks MONEY and field organization– as one thinks up-coming primaries in the next 40+ states. So far the contest really is yet to begin. Santorum all together has won in more states than Romney but money a needed ingredient is missing from his coffers.

However, Mitt Romney as the money and field organization in tact, but its clear, his party seem not to becomfortable with him. Super Tuesday is on its way and Conservatives supporting Santorum are overjoyed. But for most of us who understand the formula as we think delegates, Santorum, as nominee, is absolutely not likely. Unless something significantly changes for Romney– as in some MAJOR losses along the way.

But what say you? A horse-race is on. Whether you support the candidates on the Right or on the left– its getting hot.

Join the conversation! We want to hear from you.

Mitt Romney, after emerging victorious from the Florida primary– winning all (50) delegates is making ‘waves’; not talking about how he intends to put America’s unemployed back to work, but apparently how little interest he has in poor people. Imagine!

Yes, Mitt the apparent default candidate for the Republican Party, given he leads in delegates (still doubting popularity) seem to have the gift of ‘gaffes’. A week doesn’t go by without Romney saying something so stupid, one wonders why he has survived this long as contender. Clearly, its because the group of contenders on the Stump so far are so weak, that with tons of money, available because of personal wealth– he’s able to have the needed organization on the ground, enhanced with PAC dollars, to bury his opponents, such as Newt Gringrich in so much ‘mud’ he will never emerge to fight another day.

Adding insult to Mitt’s injuries, hours ago he was endorsed by a ‘Birther’ and a well know businessman, Donald Trump. Will someone explain how this support from a flipper too, will help Romney in the final days of his campaign?

Can’t figure how this will help, but if he does survive to be the standard bearer for his party, I would be shocked if he could stand strong against President Obama. He is constantly being burned, bruised by a competitor or by his own words.

Mr. Flip-flopper, can win by the $$s he has to spend but not by the political smarts he has thus far displayed.

But I want to hear your points-of-view. Does Romney despite his lead in delegates seem to have what it takes to beat back Barack Obama in the November elections? I think not! But share your thoughts. Join the conversaton!

Mr. Bombastic Trounces Romney in South Carolina

Well, Newt Gringrich, former Speaker, of the House has proved once again that Lazarus can rise from the dead.

Yes, weeks ago after a beating in the Iowa caucus he returns in full attack mode to win against rival Mitt Romney in the South Carolina primary, 40-28%. With a double-digit edge he trounced Mitt Romney who had more money and organization in that state. Emboldened by his victory after attacks on the media as an ally of Romney– he’s on his way to Florida, where in a few days in another primary– he expects to leave Romney in a political dust so as to speak.

The New York Times, in today’s edition, mentioned in an article– Newt’s new power this way: “Mitt Romney, facing a restive Republican Party and a resurgent Newt Gingrich, opened a combative new phase of the presidential campaign on Monday and warned of the prospect of an “October surprise” if Mr. Gingrich emerged as the party’s nominee. I would think Romney needs to bring on that surprise now.

Romney added “He’s gone from pillar to post, almost like a pinball machine, from item to item, in a way which is highly erratic and does not suggest a stable, thoughtful course, which is normally associated with leadership,” Mr. Romney said at a morning news conference. But could it be too little, too late for impassioned Romney?

As one can see –a political battle of Waterloo is on and the big question: Will Newt be in a position to repeat his double- digit victory again in a state that is more diverse and quite unlike South Carolina?

We are all waiting to see. But a “come-back” kid he is and certainly he re-confirms that Lazurus can emerge from a deep sleep, twice.

However share your thoughts on the politics of the Grand Old Party (GOP). Will the Republican establishment be supportive of a Newt Gingrich given their endorsement of Mitt Romney as the horse that’s most prepared to challenge President Barack Obama?

Join the conversation! Share your thoughts!

Its proving to be the ‘blow out’ of all primaries, yes! In three days Republicans voters will decide on a candidate among the remaining ‘five’ contenders. But will the results show anything new? Will Mitt Romney continue to be the ‘default’ winner although most in his party– seem not to like him?

Newt Gingrich determined to make a case for himself with ‘slash and burn’ politics seeks to call attention to himself with all the baggage he carries: three marriages, ethics violations during tenure as Speaker of the House, etc.– but seeks to show himself as bold by introducing racial attacks against Blacks as wanting food stamps over pay checks.

But will his tactics work in a state and primary where the racial divide is apparent and votes are up for grabs.

Will Romney, the default candidate, despite questions about his reluctance to release tax information and his receiving Speaker fees of $374,000 for years 2010-11, make him less attractive in a state where many blue collar Republicans among others, are out of work?

As mentioned in the New York Times – Romney and Santorum both have positive intensity scores of +12, meaning that 12 percent more people view them with a strongly favorable opinion than with a strongly unfavorable opinion, reports Gallup on Wednesday.

Therefore as the South Carolina Primary gets closer all eyes are on Mitt and Santorum. Newt’s trying to make a case for himself, but as the ‘bomb thrower’ of his party one wonders how his type of ‘retail politics’ will play out.

His insults to African-Americans over the top. One can only hope voters see him for what he represents and reject his platform.

Would however, like to hear your opinion on the primary in South Carolina this coming Saturday; who walks away, with the package– ‘signed, sealed and delivered?

Tomorrow is an important date as we think GOP caucus agenda and contenders.
Last Tuesday, Rick Santorum who was a dark horse among Republican contenders emerged to take second place in the Iowa caucus. A staunch conservative in the real sense of word ‘values’ all eyes focused oh him and what likely to occur tomorrow in New Hampshire.
Yet, contender Mitt Romney who has been seeking to get to the White House for the longest time is leading in the polls, but questions still remain that endgame will see him pull through as the ‘default candidate.

Yet, finally the other GOP contenders realize their best chance to stop Romney is going negative. Here is a brief sampling as Newt Gingrich goes after him:
Romney has been taking fire from his fellow presidential candidates for his tenure at a venture capital firm. Earlier Monday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich claimed that Bain Capital under Romney “looted the companies, left people unemployed and walked off with millions of dollars.”

Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0112/71240.html#ixzz1izbJPdVN
But will this deter other conservatives from supporting the flip-flopper of all times?

Romney has the money and the organization, but has proved in previous years–that’s not a guarantee that victory in New Hampshire is sure.
Of course, he’s under a microscope from all angles, and right now while the polls are in his favor– the image is quite tarnished.

Yet do you see him as the candidate to beat President Obama. Will he pass the values test conservatives are looking for? Join the conversation, tell us what you think?

In two days, January 3, conservative voters in Iowa will show support for a ‘Contender’in the Iowa caucus. Interestingly, after weeks of many predicting who may emerge among the top three in these final days– Santorum, gets an unexpected mention. Is he the Man for the Moment? Yep, the former Senator from Pennsylvania– also known jokingly as the “Rooster” is surging in the polls at a time that matters.
Weeks ago, it was Newt as the new flavor of the week. But that taste has soured. Carrying all the baggage from his past mistakes he plummets in the polls some where close to the bottom. He and Michelle Bachman,, remember her? On the same lower deck.
But another ‘surge’ is on. And this time its Santorum riding the waves. Months ago he was polling in single digits but now making a dent as the true social/fiscal conservative he claims to be.

Of course, unlike Mitt Romney, who most expect to be the nominee after the dust settles– Santorum speaks from his heart.
Not the flip-flopper so many on the GOP political trail are proving to be. That said, conservatives in the month of January voting in several caucuses will have a chance to throw their support to a candidate. Retail politics is hard at work. Who takes home the badge? Who is likely to winner after: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida?
I see Santorum as a dark horse–pulling ahead. If you like a great horse-racc, this is the time to get to the stands–the game is on.

So join the conversation. Tell us what you think. Who stands strong enough among the seven political dwarfs to beat Obama in November? Lets hear it.

Newt, no longer looks like that bright, shiney, candidate on the Hill. But could he still sneak in– and make Mitt Romney irrelevant in the upcoming straw polls? He’s losing his top ranking in the polls, but given how chaotic and unpredictable conservative voters have become, no one really can accurately predict. What’s your thoughts on Newt, who clearly is Rockefeller Republican? Can he be trusted to lead America anywhere, than down road to nowhere?
The Chorus/polls acclaim– former Speaker of the House, New Gingrich, leads in most GOP surveys around the country.
This is a former Congressman from Georgia who had to resign from his role as Speaker because of ethical violations. Now the conservative wing of the Grand Old Party (GOP) looks to send him to the White House. Why? Because of his ability to “debate” against deadbeats such as: Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.

But who is this alien in politics? Who has been described by some in his own party as Gingrichite– “thinks” only about Newt? Really, most dont know from his record what to expect.

But after the last debate he stands on top of the ‘charts’ playing bad political songs. What’s next? No one seem to know. I see a radio active Newt–exploding anytime. What are your opinions on Newt– this guy from Mars? Join the conversation!

Weeks ago contender, Herman Cain, was the buzz of the season selling his 9-9-9 idea for tax reform. Then came allegations of sexual harassment by four women and later revelations from Ginger White who said they had an affair for 13 years. After much damage control Cain saw his public image damaged and of course, he plummeted in the polls.
Former House Speaker, Newt Gingrich, now leads among GOP presidential contenders. With much swagger he boasts he’s the candidate to take on President Obama. Right/wrong only time will tell if he successfully becomes the nominee of his party. But for now, Newt, and more Newt.
But given his past, including three marriages, will he stand the test of time? GOP, Tea party politics gets more interesting by the minute. Absolutely quite unsettling for pundits wanting to make the right call. But for Republicans a finger- biting moment; could Newt’s rise prove as short as Rick Perry’s months ago? What are your thoughts on Cain’s suspending his campaign? And is former Speaker, Newt Gingrich, the man for the moment!?
