In an attempt to tell GOP’s ‘default’ candidate, Mitt Romney to take his Bain style economic policies and go to hell, President Obama attacked him on his Record at Bain Capital where the candidate –did more to pack the pockets of investors than those of workers who lost their jobs through mergers.

The President’s assault came first in the form of a video in which he went after Romney and his desire to have a desk in the White House. But the question remains– will it work?

While Mitt was an executive at Bain Capital, a company which bought and restructured companies, many lost their jobs. For example, under BAIN restructuring, a steel mill in Kansas City, Missouri, went bankrupt and finally closed. Seven hundred and fifty (750) persons lost their jobs while Bain Capital pocketed $12 million in profits on the deal.

Without doubt, for any small town to lose 750 jobs is devasting for workers and small businesses alike. Small businesses, Mom/Pop, depend upon such workers to pump life into their companies.

With people out of work, an actual community dies. So the question is: Is a Romney style of management/business acumen– what’s needed as we think effects of an ongoing recession/ giving America’s middle class a chance to start over? I would say a bold NO, although like most Americans I want to be RICH, and possibly want to make a lot of money. But what should be the approach as we think the greater good in politics, for the greater number?

Clearly Bain’s approach across the country resulted in several thousands after a time losing their jobs. So politics and our economy are tied at the chest. One reflects the life blood of the other.

So again, is a Romney style formula to revive our economy and keep Americans employed the way to go?

Should it be profits before people irrespective of circumstances? Join the conversation! Game’s on — so be a part of what matters!

President Obama in a stunning interview on WABC-TV, with journalist, Robin Roberts, boldly gave support for Same Sex Marriage, a topic avoided my previous presidents, given the likely fall- out as one thinks– politics and culture wars.

Yes, Mr. Obama on the topic of equal rights for this segment of the population always hedged his answers on equating Same Sex Marriage to that of traditional marriage between a man and woman, but apparently he has ‘evolved’ to a level where he boldly supports this type life-style.

Whether one agrees/disagrees with his stance, there is no doubt that the Republican/conservative Party will try to use it as an issue to prove how wrong he is for America and shouldn’t be given another chance as President in the upcoming elections. Most Republicans have been attacking his plans on the economy, now more fuel has been added as they think culture.

Not to mention this is an election year and no one knows given all the discussions around the topic, how his role as president will be affected.

First, many voted for this Democratic President, seeing him as Left of Right as one thinks ‘family values’. Now that he has taken the extra step to support SS Marriage– giving it a twist as one thinks “Hear Comes The Bride” many are thinking he gone left of left of left– a difficult place– miles from the Center at which winning a general elections is possible.

Too early to tell what a fallout from this support will mean, but we all know that more mud is likely to be thrown in his direction as November gets closer — just say it will be tons and tons.

Mr. Obama’s bold move on this issue also ticks of one sector of the Democratic base, Blacks, who like others with strong religious beliefs are split on their support of him on the issue. Some consider it just a pander for votes in a tight election from a well oiled pressure group, others think he’s doing what his values tells him is right.

Whatever the reasons behind his decisions, votes are being tossed up in two bags. One labelled (+)plus and another labelled minus. (-). However, one must wait until after the polls close on November 6, 2012 to determine fully how helpful politically his taking such a leap was worth it.

The horse race in on!
Join the conversation. The buzz continues!

Yesterday President Obama officially launched his campaign againt Willard Mitt Romney, the undisputed nominee for the Tea/Republican Party.
He made his appeal to the American people for a second term surrounded by supporters topping 14,000 on a University campus in Virginia; and later that day in the state of Ohio. Yes, the race for the White House is here and President Obama spared no words to describe what the country would be like under a Mitt Romney administration.

Of course, supporters at these events were already “Fired up, and Ready to GO! Fully understanding what a Romney administration could do to further stall an economy that is just about trying to emerge from a deep recession.

Not to mention, should the Republican Party win the general elections their plan includes cuts among other things, on: Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, while allowing loopholes for the rich to continue untouched.

There is no doubt, for the Democrats it will be a tough call, but most think it is possible for President Obama to win, if he makes his case to the people, given what he inherited when he took office in January, 2009.

Recent job reports, do show that private sector jobs have increased, but public sector jobs are still few and far between — cut to the bone as Republicans vote “NO” on every piece of legislation intended to put that sector back to work.
Yes, more than a million public sector workers, such as: teachers, policemen, firemen, nurses are out of work.

President Obama wants to give America’s middle class another chance to regain its clout, put those workers back to work– but how easy that will be remains questionable.

For example, the The New York Times has identified nine battleground states, where the election will be decided. Among them: Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.
For average Americans who have been losing ground in this economy– making a decision should be easy for team Obama. But there is no certainty given the spin from the Right/Republicans– who believe the answer to improve the economy lies in continued spending cuts, and never talks of increasing ‘revenues’ as tax cuts for the rich continues.

What most voters know is– that this tide of severe austerity cannot continue, and that the only hope to see an economic revival for the 99% lies in the re-election of President Obama.

The Countdown has begun– and the best candidate hopefully will win.

Your thoughts on President Obama vs Willard Mitt Romney Mr. Romney is the first candidate to run for the Presidency who has had an account in a Swiss Bank, does that in itself tell most of us what we need to know? Or does his tenure at Bain Capital, where through mergers, the mission of that Venture– several workers were given ‘pink slips’ as Investors, and Romney himself pocked millions in profits?

The game is on– a horse race, like none other. This is your turn to be a part of. Join the conversation!

Unlike that long drawn out primary season of 2008 when Democrats kept going until June, for the Grand Old Party (GOP) the primary season is over.

Mitt Romney at this stage is 300 sigh of the 1144 delegates needed, but nevertheless, will be the standard bearer for his party as we think general elections, 2012. Yes , Romney has beaten back contenders: Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich and will take on President Obama in the coming months to prove that he has a better plan to move America forward.

A horse-race is on, and it will be President Obama versus Mitt Romney. But what does Mitt Romney bring to the table? A former one-term Governor of liberal Massachusetts and Bain Venture Capitalist, Mitt believes through his experience at dissolving companies through mergers ives him the political/economic savvy to do a better job than Barack Obama. Really?
The game begins! . Clearly this election will not be a referendum but one that offers a choice for voters. And as in all — elections have consequences. Will America’s struggling middle class stick with Barack Obama or will they choose a Venture Capitalist who record shows most of his money was invested/saved off shore in banks in Switzerland and Grand Cayman?
Romney remains an unknown, politically. Why? He flips constantly. Runs away even from his signature achievement to reform the health-care delivery system in Massachusetts. Now known nation-wide as Obama
Cares. What does Mitt stands for? -Most are still trying to guess. But game is on and for us voters, knowing the issues will be critical.

But be prepared for the war of words that will tell us more false tales than we want to hear while the truth gets hidden along the highway. Just be reminded, we have a stake to participate fully in all the conversations, and one begins here at ZipInPolitics. Thinking the recession, and all that President Obama has done, which candidate is likely to make the best case for America’s middle class?

As voters it will be our decision to choose– so join the conversation.

At the beginning it was the Magnificent Seven. Or was it eight. Seemed so long ago when GOP contenders included: Mitt Romney, Nick Perry, Nick Santorum, Michelle Bachmann, Ron Paul, Herman Cain, Jon Huntsman, but finally in a blowout of dollars and organization on the ground the GOP Dance to select a “Beau’ for the White House, as slowed to one-Mitt Romney. Yes! The GOP’s Dance to the Nomination ends and Mitt wins by default.

That is big! Yet detractors question if he has what it takes to win the country over. We will see.

But although the least personable of political ‘grooms’ he had the money and the ability to create an organization on the ground to win, and he has done so. To date, he racks up the most delegates and by Default, becomes the Republican candidate to face President Obama in the November elections.

But the real test of Mitt Romney’s chances for political survival will be most evident in the coming months. Why? First, Romney despite his denials– is a moderate Republican who served one term as Governor of liberal Massachusetts and despite his not wanting to talk about it, is the person who created the ‘prototype for the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCares.

Second, most agree, Rick Santorum was probably the only conservative among the entire group, and Ron Paul the only true Libertarian. Therefore one is forced to ask: Can Romney as a Mormon, inspire Evangelicals to support him?

Republicans and Tea Party members have said in many ‘voices’ that their only goal is beat President Obama. Meaning they are ready to bury ‘hatchets’ on ideological issues to win this November. But not to be forgotten, American elections are won on the support of cross-over voters and Independents.

So will Mitt Romney– with a record of having bank accounts in Swiss Banks and Grand Cayman, a political flip-flopper whose core values are still unknown make it from the Dance to the White House? The coming months will give us that answer, but in the interim the battle for the White House begins.

Yes, and the horses on the track are: President Barack Obama on the left and Willard Mitt Romney, on the Right. One we know a lot about, the other with several personalities, yet to be revealed.

That said, let the games begin!
So which horse gets your support as we think issues on: the economy, access to healthcare, jobs, etc? In time millions of voters will decide, for now its our turn to start thinking, politics, resources and power. Who gets it?

Join the conversation. Say your piece!

In a campaign mode directly, or indirectly, President Obama takes to Road today and in the coming weeks –reports are he plans to hammer away at the idea — of the “Buffet Rule” which demands that wealthy Americans pay more in taxes.

Yes, President Obama plans to emphasize that while many middle class Americans pay more than 30 percent in income taxes, the wealthy, as in millionaires– pay significantly less.

Of course, those of us who live in America want to be wealthy. Most are all of us agrees on that. So there should be no contention that if one earns more, one pays more.

But that’s not the case. Our present tax code seem to have the middle class paying the larger percentage, while millionaires, as in candidate Mitt Romney pays 14 percentage or less.

The Buffet Rule would stipulate that the very rich pays as least 30 percent in income taxes. For many, that will be a drop in the bucket. Yet, among some Republicans there is much opposition.

Together as a nation, we must strive to build America. That can only be accomplished if everyone pays/contributes equally to the ‘pot’.

I fully agree with the premise behind the “Buffet Rule”. What is so hard for some to understand? Yet responses are that it wont bring the national deficit down. So, we do nothing to equal the playing field?

I cheer the President on for taking on a very sensitive issue particularly at this is the time. He moves to lay the issues out to voters as we prepare for elections in November. What better time? None!
One cannot hide from the facts, collectively we swim together or ‘sink’ as a nation.

That should not be a choice for a nation of our size and wealth! What say you?

As Republicans move forward, deciding on a nominee for the Grand Old Party (GOP), President Obama uses his bully pulpit to call attention to his agenda and what must be done to move the economy forward.

Not to mention, this week for three days, The Solicitor General of United States spoke before the Supreme Court in Defense of the Affordable Care Act (Known as ObamaCare) which Tea Party Republicans claim is unconstitutional.

Most of us are fully tuned in to hearing what the verdict may be. This was a vital piece (signature legislation) for the Obama administration.

In the interim, the economy although showing signs of revival, remains weak and if Republicans are able to continue with ‘gridlock’ as we have become accustomed to in Washington– look to see further increase as we think oil prices. Yes, there’s room for much damage as the word recession remains a part of the daily conversations on what next as we think ‘Jobs and un-employment’.

One week its Mitt, another week its Newt, and yet another week victory belongs to Rick Santorum.

Yes, Santorum won Alabama and Mississippi primaries yesterday with a bang. But with each victory, the GOP contenders seem to be at a dance. Today, they are acceptable, tomorrow its time to change partners.

That seem to be the case as this political theater continues. Mitt while having the largest delegate count of all, still seem not to be hitting home with most Republican conservatives. Romney still confident he will be the nominee for his party, but for those of us looking on– his drive to the White House is getting awfully slippery.

Will he make it with the required delegates at the end of the day? Or will Santorum come from behind and stop him at a brokered convention, in Tampa, comes August?

Very hard to predict, but for now– great ‘political Theater’ is on, take time to drink it in. You will seea ‘dance’ to last you a life time.

Super Tuesday has come and gone. For many, this would have been the end of a long fight to the finish for GOP contenders, but its not going to be the case.

Yes, Mitt Romney, emerged the winner in six states, and now with about 404 delegates, seem to be the Man of the MOMENT; but Santorum who won decisively in three states: Oklahoma, South Dakato, and Tennessee, plans to fight on.

Mitt clearly has the money and field organization to fight to the very end– and is expected to emerge as the Default candidate for the Republicans– but he’s clearly bruised so what really does he have to offer cross over voters in the General election, comes November?

Most on either side of the isle, fail to know what exactly he stands for. He Flip-flops by the minute, but money remains the mother’s milk in politics and Mitt has a great deal of that. Consequently, there is no doubt he will be the nominee, even as he rides the down escalator in a grand loss to President Barack Obama.

That’s how my crystal ball reads. Have a different opinion on Mitt, Rick Santorum? I want to hear it.

Well, Mitt Romney has put to rest, speculationa that a brokered Republican convention is likely. By a very slim Margin over Rick Santorum 40-38% he was able to show, he still has something on which his ‘team’ and Party can make a gamble; –even if winning by a squeaker in his Home State is exactly what happened.

But there is no doubt, Romney has ‘survived’ another test in Michigan, his home state. To have lost it, would have been devastating. Not only to his ego, but also politically.

Losing there? Home state! What a message to send to his establishment friends in the Grand Old Party (GOP). After all, many among the Republican base, still believe he’s a very weak candidate.

That said, Mitt Romney is on his way to show off his skills set in another set of primaries as Super Tuesday approaches. We at Zipinpolitics will of course, be watching if the ‘default’ candidate continues to hold on. Will he, wont he? is the big question.

What are your thoughts on Mitt’s victory in Arizona where he won all 29 delegates (winner take all state) and winning Michigan, if even by 3 percentage points? Like it or not he said to Santorum– not on my turf? Speak your mind.
